CONVOCATION FOR PRIESTS OCT. 7-10
The Convocation for Priests will be held from Monday, October 7 until Thursday, October 10 in Newport. This is intended for all priests of the Archdiocese of Portland, and Fr. Peter will be attending. There will be no Masses on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pilgrimages in 2014
Pilgrimage to Rome for teenagers and parents will be February 13-20. Pilgrimage to Lourdes for all parishioners will be May 22-29. More details to come.

POLISH FESTIVAL – Sept. 21 & 22
We are still looking for volunteers to help during the Polish Festival on Saturday, September 21 from 11AM-10PM and Sunday, September 22 from Noon-6PM. Please contact Fr. Peter if you can help.

ORNAMENTAL FAITH
Faith “is not some decorative or ornamental thing,” said Pope Francis. “To live the faith is not to decorate life with a little religion, like a cake is decorated with a little frosting. No! It’s not that. Faith entails choosing God as a fundamental criterion of life, and God is neither meaningless nor neutral. God is love!” he said. “Remember this: follow Jesus: no one else. To follow Jesus means to be involved”, Pope Francis said.

TWENTY YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF WORLD YOUTH DAY IN DENVER
Twenty years after the 1993 World Youth Day was held in Denver, the archdiocese has been abundantly blessed with much spiritual fruit, said Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila.
The archbishop closed by citing the words of Blessed John Paul II at Denver’s World Youth Day “This is no time to be ashamed of the Gospel,” he said, quoting the former Pope. “Do not be afraid to break out of comfortable and routine modes of living, in order to take up the challenge of making Christ known in the modern ‘metropolis’.”
