INSTALLATION MASS – NEW ARCHBISHOP ALEXANDER SAMPLE

The Installation Mass will be celebrated on Easter Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2PM at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. The Mass is open to the public and all are invited to attend. Seating for the public will be first-come, first-served. There will be a public reception at the Chiles Center, immediately following the Mass. All priests will be invited to concelebrate the Installation Mass.

PARISH RETREAT AND CONFESSION BEFORE EASTER

Parish retreat will take place from March 15 to 18. This retreat will be in Polish language and will be led by Fr. Tadeusz Talik, SCH from Rome. Friday, March 15 will be confessions from 5PM to 9PM. Fr. Stanislaw Żak and Fr. Tadeusz will be available.

POPE BENEDICT’S RESIGNATION AND THE NEW CONCLAVE

The Pope’s planned resignation will be on Feb. 28. Pope Benedict XVI will likely be spending two months at the papal residence in Castel Gandolfo following his resignation. He will be waiting there for renovations to be completed on Mater Ecclesiae monastery. Joining him at the property within the Vatican gardens will be his personal secretary, Archbishop Georg Gaenswein, and members of his current household staff.
Preparations continue for the final papal general audience in St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday, February 27.
In Blessed John Paul II’s 1996 document, the Apostolic Constitution titled „Universi Dominici Gregis,” cardinals are decreed to commence the voting process behind closed doors no sooner than 15 days, but no later than 20 into the „sede vacante” period. The College of Cardinals, led by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, will decide.

Donations are requested during Lenten season for people in need in Portland. Our wish list includes: jackets, sleeping bags, blankets, socks, shoes, backpacks, hats, gloves, scarves, adult-sized jeans/pants, sweaters, TriMet tickets, travel-size shampoo, lotion & deodorant, canned tuna, peanut butter. Bring these items to our Parish hall.

FILM – „THE OTHER SON”
The film, „The Other Son” will be shown with English subtitles in the Parish Hall on Sat., March 2 at 5PM. It is about two families, Jewish and Arab, whose children were switched at birth.
