OCTOBER – MONTH OF THE ROSARY
Every Sunday in October, there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 10:30 am, and the rosary will be recited at 10:40 am before the 11:00 am Polish Mass. We will also pray the Rosary after every Sunday evening English Mass.

POPE DECLARES CARDINAL HLOND A “SERVANT OF GOD”
On May 19th, Pope Francis authorized the Congregation to promulgate the decree Servant of God on August Józef Hlond. Cardinal Hlond, of the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco, was archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw, primate of Poland, Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, and founder of the Society of Christ for Emigrants. He was born on July 5, 1881 in Brzęczkowice, Poland, and died in Warsaw, Poland on Oct. 22, 1948. He was the only member of the College of Cardinals to be arrested and taken into custody by the Gestapo during World War II. He was also a critic of the Soviet-backed Communist regime in Poland.

OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY – October 7
On October 7, 1571, a battle was fought in the Gulf of Patras, near Lepanto between the Ottoman Turks and a fleet of allied Christian forces and ended the threat of Turkish naval supremacy in the Mediterranean. In celebration and thanksgiving, Pope Pius V instituted this special feast in 1573.

MATER DEI RADIO
Mater Dei Radio will visit our parish on Sunday, October 28th for a talk and fundraising after the Masses at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will be envelopes available for donations.

St. JOHN PAUL II FEAST
On October 16, 1978 Cardinal Karol Wojtyla was elected pope and took the name John Paul II. His inauguration took place on October 22, 1978. He was beatified on May 1, 2011 and canonized on April 27, 2014. His liturgical feast is on October 22.
