CONFESSIONS BEFORE CHRISTMAS
December 15-17th
Confession is an important preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth. Confession opportunities will be on Friday, December 15th from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Saturday, December 16th from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, December 17th before the Masses. Fr. Stan Żak will be on these days.

Please bring donations to the Parish Hall: jackets, sleeping bags, blankets, socks, shoes, backpacks, hats, gloves, scarves, adult-sized jeans/pants, sweaters, Tri-Met tickets, travel-size shampoo, lotion & deodorant, canned tuna, peanut butter.

ARCHBISHOP SAMPLE CHRISTMAS MASS

Archbishop Sample will be visiting our parish for Christmas this year and will be at the 11 a.m. Mass on Christmas Day.

HOLY DAYS OF OBLIGATION

Christmas on Monday, December 25th, 2017 is a holy day of obligation and Catholics must attend holy Mass on this day. The vigil on Sunday does not count for both the Sunday and Christmas Masses, so Catholics must attend Masses on both days. According the the decree of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, January 1st, which is the Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God, is not a holy day of obligation in 2018.

NEW TREES FOR THE PARISH

In mid-December, the plum trees next to the church on Failing Street will be replaced with new trees.

NEW CHANCELLOR FOR ARCHDIOCESE

Archbishop Sample has announced that Sister Veronica Schueler, F.S.E. will be the new Chancellor for the Archdiocese of Portland effective January 9, 2018. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist and has a Masters degree in Criminal Justice, a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law and also a certification in Health Care Ethics.
